Mission Statement
The
Vreeland College (VCHA) gives students a solid grounding in the healing
arts that includes alternative methods and ways to think. Our specialty is Hypnotherapy training.
We
teach traditional methods and a wealth of knowledge and practice from
mind-body work, transformational systems, and human potential that have
been shown to be effective in working with clients.
We create new
systems and techniques to match the needs of the women and men we
serve. We value the unique core of our students and their clients and
know that the studies we offer are opportunities not only to learn
techniques, but to become people who have the real power to make a
remarkable difference in another person's life.
Our community
includes people who are already engaged deeply in their lives and
careers. We value flexibility and innovation. Our seminars
and courses include topics that are rarely covered in traditional
academic settings.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Enrollment Application

LENGTH OF PROGRAMS
The length of each certification program depends on your educational goals and the time that you have available for your studies. After completion of your chosen course, you have three months to complete and submit your final test for certification. The certification is issued through the Vreeland College of the Healing Arts. Additional certification is available through the International Hypnosis Federation for an additiona fee of $100.
GRADING
The subject matter at the Vreeland College of the Healing Arts often lends itself to coursework that requires subjective answers, i.e., there is no "right" or "wrong". For this reason, Vreeland College of the Healing Arts instructors use a pass/fail system. When the course performance requirements are all met to the satisfaction of the faculty, the student passes the course, and credit is granted. If the student's work is substandard, a Vreeland College of the Healing Arts advisor will contact the student and the student will be required to re-take the course for credit.
LICENSE AND CREDENTIALS
In general, VCHA offers its programs for the student who is not planning to sit for a license examination. There is no intent to provide the academic or clinical training track for a student seeking eligibility for state or agency licensing and or credentialing. If state or agency licensure is the ultimate goal of the student, the VCHA strongly advises the student to check with his or her respective state, school district and professional associations for specific prerequisites.
At the present time in California, Hypnotherapy is a non-licensed occupation. It is our standard and practice to advise professional hypnotherapists to be certified and registered within the state they practice.
ACCREDITATION
Vreeland College of the Healing Arts programs are certified and recognized by the International Hypnosis Federation. All graduates become IHF members.
DISCLOSURE
A hypnotist is a legal wellness provider and not a licensed medical practitioner. Hypnosis is an ethical, alternative stand-alone wellness profession. In almost all states and countries, hypnotherapy is a non-licensed occupation, as are many other occupations. Most professional hypnotherapists are certified and registered within the state they practice. Hypnosis has been recognized by the American Medical Association, the British Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association and the Catholic church to be beneficial for many health-related issues.

Robin A. Bernhoft earned his MD at Washington University Medical School, St Louis. After surgery residency at UCSF, where he published over twenty scientific papers, and a liver/pancreatic surgery fellowship in London, England, he entered private practice in the Seattle area, joining the clinical faculty of the University of Washington Medical School. After several years of busy surgical practice, he became environmentally ill. In order to understand what was happening to him, and to survive, Dr Bernhoft retrained in environmental medicine.
